At Detroit Reman, environmental responsibility is more than simply satisfying the latest emissions standards. It is our commitment to pursue technology and processes to minimize the impact of our remanufacturing business on the environment. Read our Environmental Policy here.

Remanufacturing is recycling

Remanufacturing is recognized as the highest form of recycling because like-new products are produced while minimizing the impact on the environment.

Remanufacturing conserves natural resources and reduces pollution by:

  • Reusing raw materials which would otherwise be mined from the earth.
  • Conserving energy by reusing old parts rather than melting them down to raw material.
  • Reducing the generation of waste by keeping old parts out of landfills.

Environmental Certification

Detroit Reman has developed and implemented the globally accepted ISO 14001:2004 Certified Environmental Management System (EMS), which promotes exceeding compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

The purpose of this certification:

  • Minimizes the impact of our company on the environment
  • Ensures compliance with environmental regulations
  • Continually improves environmental performance
  • Reduces environmental risks

Detroit Reman's Thermal Cleaning Process is Environmentally Friendly

Cylinder heads in oven prior to thermal cleaning.

The first step removes oils, grease, fuel and contaminants from castings and converts materials such as paint to ash which is later easily removed.

Cylinder block after final step in cleaning process.

After "baking", residual debris and ash left on the casting are removed giving the casting a "like new" appearance. The casting will be thoroughly inspected.
