Environmental
At Detroit Diesel Remanufacturing, environmental
responsibility is more than simply satisfying the latest emissions
requirements. It's a commitment to pursuing technology and processes
that minimize our business' impact on the environment we share. Read our Environmental Policy here.
Remanufacturing as the ultimate in
recycling
Remanufacturing is
becoming recognized as the highest form of recycling, producing "like
new" products while minimizing the impact on our environment.
-
Reuses raw
materials that would otherwise
need to be mined from the earth.
-
More energy
efficient than melting old
parts down to their raw materials and rebuilding them.
-
Reduced generation
of wastes, keeping old parts
out of our landfills.
These
benefits all lead to the conservation of natural resources and a
reduced pollution output.
Environmental Certification
DDR has developed and implemented an ISO 14001 Certified Environmental Management System (EMS), which promotes exceeding compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
The purpose of this certification:
- Minimizes the impact of an operation on the environment
- Improves compliance with environmental regulation
- Continually improves environmental performance
- Reduces environmental risks

We employ environmentally-friendly cleaning processes, such as the Thermal
Cleaning Process, to even further reduce remanufacturing's impact on the earth.
The Thermal Cleaning Process:
- Converts organic material (like heavy grease, rubber seals, gasket materials, and paint) into ash and gas
- Works much like a self-cleaning oven that uses high heat to reduce baked on food to ash
- Uses less energy than other cleaning processes
- No need for hazardous chemicals or solvents
- Doesn't use water (unlike most other cleaning processes)
